 - Oct 25 - Horse Racing - Santa Anita
Horse racing fall season at Santa Anita, Closing Day Nov. 3rd. Great place to spend a morning photographing. Get there early at Clockers Corner to see all the horses going out to the track to warm up. You can get some really close images. They generally have tours of the barns and other areas of the race track which is free. First race is 1:00 PM.

Oct 3 - Fire Service Day - Anaheim
Great way to see Fire action up close, demos, lots of equipment, get some nice PJ shots.  North NET Training Facility, 2400 E Orangewood Ave.  next to Angel Stadium. 11AM-2PM.
Oct 3-4 Calico Days - Yermo
A Western parade, burro run, gunfighters, barbecue, miner's triathlon, 1880's era contests. Calico Ghost Town, 9AM-5PM

Oct 3-4 San Dimas Rodeo - San Dimas
Will be held Saturday October 5 and Sunday October 6th, The gates will open at 11:00. AM Events Begin At 1:00 PM at the Tex Shoemaker Rodeo Arena at Horsethief Canyon Park.

October 3-4 - MCAS Miramar Air Show - San Diego
Blue Angels perform, parachute teams, wing walkers and other military and civilian flights. Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. gates open at 8:15AM

Oct 4  -  Aquarium of the Pacific Photographers Night -  Long Beach
Now is your chance to take the photos you have always wanted. Back by popular demand, on this night, the Aquarium will be available to photographers for the sole purpose of getting their dream photos without having to worry about the general public either getting in their shots or being bothered by their equipment.
Take your time, set up your shots, and enjoy. In order to create the best environment for our photographers, we will be limiting ticket sales. We highly encourage you to purchase your tickets ahead of time to guarantee a spot or you may be turned away at the door.
Normally, lights begin to dim as 9:00 p.m. approaches, but on this night, the lights will remain on in all the exhibits in order to provide the best opportunities for photography.*
Cost: $28.95 per person, $26.95 for Aquarium members. No other discounts or special offers will be accepted for this evening.

Oct 17 - SBD Fest and Air Show - San Bernardino
Air show, car show, and concert.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors, and free for active military with ID.  9:00AM to 6 PM at SBD International Airport, 1601 E Third St.

Civil War Reeanactment with battles at 11:30 and 2:30 Sat and Sun at Tom's Farm, 23900 Temescal Canyon Road, off the 15 Fwy.  FREE.

Oct 16-17-18 - Tournament of the Phoenix - Poway
On October 16-17 and 18th, 2015 the Poway Rodeo Grounds will be transformed into a scene from 'A Knight's Tale' as six armored knights from across the globe meet for an international competition. The Tournament of the Phoenix is a weekend long Jousting and Combat event sanctioned by England's Royal Armories Museum-Leeds.
Competitors will accumulate points as they battle it out in a series of grueling events. The tournament will test the combatants' prowess and stamina as they pit themselves against each other in foot combat with axes, mounted melee, and four sessions of jousting.
The event also showcases the "Festival of History", where over one hundred members of the Southwest's premier Living History associations will present a living time line of history spanning Rome through the European Renaissance. A medieval bagpipe band lends to the festive atmosphere as they perform throughout the day. 'Hands on History' activities for all ages, vendors offering a range of goods and delicious food assure a day full of fun for event goers. Poway Rodeo Grounds, 14336 Tierra Bonita Road.

Oct 15-18 - Gunfight Behind The Jersey Lilly - Corona/Norco
Put on by The Cowboys, They are the oldest and largest Cowboy Action Shooting Club in the world. They meet monthly for matches, wear authentic western gear. This event is free and has a lot to offer for the photographer. A few years ago we went and got a lot of cowboy pics, Indian dancers and we were able to take pictures of the shooting competition. Oct 24 - LA Day of the Dead - Los Angeles
Claimed to be the largest "Day of the Dead" celebration in California.  Photograph dance rituals, musical performances, arts and crafts, horror costume contests, parades through the cemetery, food vendors.  Once in, you can stay after 4:00 p.m.  Admission is $20; free to seniors.  Limited parking in the area.  12 noon to 4:00 PM.  Hollywood Forever Cemetery, 6000 Santa Monica Blvd.

Oct 25 - Wings, Wheels and Rotors Expo - Los Alamitos
Car show, military and civilian aircraft displays, flyovers, helicopter flights, demonstrations, food and music. Los Alamitos Army Airfield, Joint Forces Training Base. 9AM -4PM. 11200 Lexington Drive, Katella at Lexington Dr. At Lexington off Katella.

Presented jointly by Paul’s Photo and GLAZA, #LAZooPhotoDay is a fantastic opportunity for photographers of all ages and skill levels.
