More than 50 species of butterflies in a landscaped enclosure on the museum's South Lawn.  July 5-6  -  Mountaineer Days  -  Wrightwood

July 12  - Kardboard Kayak Race - Santa Barbara

July  12-13 - Fort MacArthur Days - San Pedro
Location fort MacArthur Museum, Angel Gate Park, 3601 South Gaffey. Big Event with reeanactments from Civil War to WWII. Hours 10am-4pm. July 11-Aug 10 - Orange County Fair - Costa Mesa

July 17- Sept 3 - Horse Racing - Del Mar
Del Mar racing season is through Sept 7th closing day. Gates open at Noon and first race is usually 2 PM. Closed Mondays and Thursdays. 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. I've never photographed at this racetrack so I can't give you any tips. http://www.dmtc.com/season/
